WHITE HOUSE ORDER BEHIND STARSHIELD LIMITS IN UKRAINE AS SENATORS DEMAND FORMAL INVESTIGATION
Multiple U.S. and Western officials told Reuters that the instruction to limit Ukraine’s military Starshield satellite service originated inside the White House, although they did not identify the official who made the decision. A senior U.S. official denied that President Donald Trump personally issued the request. The restrictions disrupted Ukrainian communications and high-speed drone operations, with some service subsequently restored. Nine bipartisan U.S. senators have now formally asked the Defense Department inspector general to investigate who authorized or knew about the restrictions, whether SpaceX acted independently, and whether related communications and warning disruptions endangered American personnel in Ukraine.
