OBUASI SHTS SEXUAL ABUSE ALLEGATIONS DEEPEN AS HEADMASTER REMAINS INTERDICTED, CID PROBE CONTINUES AND TEACHERS’ GROUPS QUESTION DELAYED ACTION
The sexual abuse allegations involving Obuasi Senior High Technical School headmaster Zakaria Abdulai have drawn further official scrutiny, with the Ghana Education Service maintaining his interdiction while the Ministry of Education has referred criminal aspects of the case to the CID. NAGRAT says complaints may have been raised as far back as 2025 and has questioned whether authorities acted quickly enough, while CHASS has backed the decision to remove the headmaster temporarily to protect the integrity of the investigation. Education advocates are also demanding scrutiny of officials who may have received earlier complaints, making the case a wider test of safeguarding, accountability and whistleblower protection within Ghana’s education system.
