37 DETAINEES DIE IN NSCDC CUSTODY AS SURVIVORS ALLEGE OVERCROWDING AND UNIDENTIFIED SPRAY
Thirty seven detainees, many of them young artisanal miners, died in NSCDC custody in Niger State after being arrested during operations against suspected illegal mining. Survivors allege more than 60 people were packed into a tiny cell before an unidentified substance was sprayed inside. President Bola Tinubu has ordered an investigation, while the precise cause of death remains undetermined.
