NCDC INSISTS N10 BILLION HEALTH FUND IS FOR BROAD SECURITY NOT JUST EBOLA AFTER NORTH-EAST CASES RULED OUT
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has clarified that the N10 billion health security fund released by the Federal Government is intended for broad preparedness against multiple diseases, not exclusively for Ebola. Director-General Dr Jide Idris said the money went directly to NCDC and covers threats including Lassa fever, cholera, meningitis and others. The statement followed the ruling out of two suspected Ebola cases in Adamawa State in the North-East. The agency noted that the sum remains inadequate relative to Nigeria’s estimated multi-year health-security requirements.
