FBI ANNOUNCES MAJOR GHANA SCAM-COMPOUND TAKEDOWN AS 130-PLUS ARE DETAINED AND 300 DEVICES SEIZED
FBI Director Kash Patel says an Operation Blackout action in Ghana has resulted in more than 130 people being arrested or detained, 89 victims identified, nearly $10 million in losses linked to the operation and more than 300 devices seized. Crucially, the 130-plus total includes trafficking victims who are expected to be repatriated, meaning not everyone detained should be described as a fraud suspect. The FBI has not yet disclosed the raid location, nationalities involved, the Ghanaian agencies that participated or whether any suspects will face prosecution in Ghana or extradition to the United States. Ghanaian news organizations also reported Thursday that the Ghana-specific figures had not yet been independently confirmed by local authorities.
