IRAN’S REVOLUTIONARY GUARDS MAKE DIRECT APPEAL TO AMERICANS IN 25 PAGE OPEN LETTER

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has issued a 25 page open letter directly addressing the American public, criticizing President Donald Trump's foreign policy and urging Americans to reconsider Washington's approach toward Iran, Israel and conflicts across the Middle East.

The unusual message was presented to foreign journalists in Tehran on Tuesday, September 29, as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high despite renewed diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the months long conflict.

IRGC spokesperson Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi said the organization decided to communicate directly with Americans because it believes many US citizens do not fully understand Iran's position.

The letter argues that ordinary Iranians do not seek hostility with ordinary Americans and that peaceful coexistence between the two countries could be possible if US foreign policy changed.

Reuters reported that the message appeals to American midterm voters to reject Trump's policies, oppose US support for Israel and reconsider Washington's involvement in foreign wars.

The timing of the letter is politically significant because Americans are preparing to vote in November's midterm elections.

Mohebbi acknowledged that the letter was unlikely to persuade the Trump administration to change its position toward Tehran.

The IRGC spokesperson maintained that the purpose was not to interfere with the US election but to present what Tehran considers facts that American citizens should consider.
