I AM HEALTHY AND READY TO WORK TINUBU SAYS AFTER FOUR WEEKS IN EUROPE

President Bola Tinubu has dismissed speculation surrounding his health following his return to Nigeria after spending approximately four weeks in Europe, declaring that he is healthy and ready to work.

Tinubu spoke after arriving in Lagos on Tuesday evening from Paris, where he spent the latter part of an extended working vacation.

Asked about concerns that had emerged over his health during his prolonged stay abroad, the President rejected the speculation.

“Ready to kick, ready to walk. There’s nothing wrong,” Tinubu said.

He described the discussion surrounding his health as political rumor and said he had returned to the country ready to continue his duties.

“Rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the facts remain, I’m here. Healthy, sound, and ready to go,” Tinubu said.

FOUR WEEKS OUTSIDE NIGERIA

Tinubu departed Nigeria on August 30 for what the Presidency initially described as a three week working vacation.

He first traveled to London before proceeding to Paris after approximately one week in the United Kingdom.

The Presidency later announced that the vacation had been extended by several days.

Tinubu's extended stay abroad generated public and political discussion, particularly after the President did not personally attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Vice President Kashim Shettima represented him at the gathering.

The Presidency maintained throughout Tinubu's absence that he remained in communication with officials in Nigeria and continued directing government affairs while abroad.

TINUBU SAYS HE ENJOYED HIS VACATION

Tinubu also appeared relaxed when asked about his time away from the country.

“I enjoyed myself. Fantastic,” he said.

During his stay in France, Tinubu met French President Emmanuel Macron and held meetings with business figures.

He also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding involving the Ogun State Government and DP World for the proposed Gateway Deep Sea Port and Blue Marine Economic Zone.

BACK AHEAD OF INDEPENDENCE DAY

Tinubu's return comes immediately before Nigeria's October 1 Independence anniversary.

His aircraft landed at the presidential wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at approximately 6:22 p.m. on Tuesday.

The President is expected to participate in activities surrounding the Independence anniversary before eventually returning to Abuja.

Tinubu is also expected to attend the premiere of a film honoring the late MKO Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Lagos.

His return brings an end to weeks of speculation surrounding his extended stay abroad.

Tinubu's response to those questions was clear. He says he is back, healthy and ready to resume his activities.
